7kW Enphase IQ8+ Grid-Tied Solar Kit
Module-level solar production for offsetting daytime utility use.
This solar-only kit combines an approximately 7kW DC array with Enphase IQ8+ Microinverters and system monitoring for a 240V split-phase grid-tied installation.
It is designed to reduce purchased utility energy while solar is available; battery storage and outage backup are not included.
- 7kW DC nominal solar array
- IQ8+ module-level microinverter platform
- 240V Split Phase grid architecture
- Solar-only, grid-tied design — no battery included
- Enphase system monitoring through the IQ Gateway integrated into the included IQ Combiner 5
Estimated Annual Solar Production
| Phoenix, Arizona | Approximately 11,900 kWh/year |
| Chicago, Illinois | Approximately 8,800 kWh/year |
Planning estimates assume an unshaded, south-facing fixed array at approximately 30° tilt and typical system losses. Actual production varies with location, roof direction, tilt, shading, weather, temperature, equipment, and utility curtailment. Use a site-specific production model before purchase.
System Overview
Each solar module operates with its own Enphase microinverter, converting DC solar power to grid-compatible AC at the module level. This architecture avoids a single central string inverter and provides module-level monitoring and shutdown functionality. The system operates in parallel with the utility grid and is intended to reduce the amount of electricity purchased from the utility while solar is producing.
Ideal Applications
- Residential electric-bill reduction
- Homes with strong daytime electrical usage
- Roofs with multiple orientations or module-level monitoring requirements
- Customers who want a solar-only Enphase system without battery storage
What’s Included
- Approximately 7kW DC of solar panels selected from available inventory at purchase; panel brand, model, wattage, and quantity are not fixed, and final panel count varies with selected wattage
- One IQ8+ microinverter matched to each selected solar panel; final quantity determined at purchase
- Enphase Q Cable and related field-wiring accessories sized to the final panel and microinverter count at purchase
- Enphase IQ Combiner 5 with integrated IQ Gateway
- Required Enphase installation accessories sized to the finalized configuration

What Can It Power
What Can It Power?
This 7kW system is a grid-tied, solar-only system. It does not dedicate power to specific appliances. While the grid is available, solar production offsets electrical loads operating in the home and excess production may flow to the utility when permitted by the interconnection agreement.

How Much Energy Will It Produce?
The array is rated at approximately 7kW DC. The Main Listing provides representative annual planning estimates for Phoenix and Chicago. These figures are not guarantees; use a site-specific solar-production model to account for roof orientation, tilt, shading, weather, temperature, equipment, and system losses.
Why This Kit
Why We Chose the Enphase IQ8+ Platform
We selected Enphase IQ8+ for this 7kW kit because it provides a cost-conscious residential grid-tie system using module-level power conversion. Instead of routing the entire array through one central inverter, each module has its own microinverter and can be monitored at the module level.
- Module-level DC-to-AC power conversion
- Module-level monitoring through the Enphase platform
- No single central string inverter
- Enphase power-line communication between system components
- Advanced grid-support functionality when properly commissioned
- UL-listed rapid-shutdown functionality when installed per Enphase requirements
- Purpose-built for 240V Split Phase applications
- Scalable module-by-module architecture
Built for Solar-Only Grid Tie
This configuration intentionally leaves out battery storage and backup hardware. That keeps the system focused on its primary job: producing solar energy while the utility grid is available and reducing the amount of utility energy the home needs to purchase during solar-production hours.
The IQ8 platform is part of the broader Enphase Energy System. Future battery or backup expansion is possible only with compatible equipment, appropriate system design, and any required electrical/interconnection changes. Battery equipment is not included in this kit.
