Overview

The Airspool WS12 Solar Window Air Conditioner is the world’s first commercially available solar-hybrid window A/C, designed to deliver efficient cooling with direct solar integration while still providing reliable grid-assisted operation when needed. This unit is ideal for rooms, apartments, garages, workshops, or spaces where traditional wall-mounted mini-splits are not practical. It offers 12,000 BTU of cooling capacity, with the ability to run on solar power alone, grid power alone, or a combination of both automatically for uninterrupted comfort.

Performance

• Cooling Capacity: 12,000 BTU (nominal) — suitable for spaces roughly 400–650 sq ft depending on insulation and climate.

• Variable-Speed Inverter Compressor: Adjustable speeds (25 %, 50 %, 75 %, 100 %) optimize efficiency and reduce energy use relative to traditional single-speed window units.

Hybrid Solar + Grid Operation

• Direct Solar Integration: Connect a solar panel array (typical recommendation ~1,500 W of panels with system VOC between ~80 V and 380 V) using standard MC4 connectors — solar power is automatically prioritized when available.

• Grid Backup: Unit can be plugged into a standard 110 V outlet (120 VAC) and will use grid power when solar is insufficient, ensuring continuous cooling.

• No Batteries or Inverter Required: Designed to run directly from DC solar panel output or AC grid power without separate batteries or power electronics.

Efficiency & Operation

• Cooling Efficiency: Rated around 15 CEER (approximately equivalent to ~17 SEER2) when running on grid power.
